Washington, D.C.- In typical Associated Press fashion, the main and important issues are buried, ignored, glossed over and minimized while sensationalizing something else as a diversion of what is really important.
In an A.P. wire story carried virtually everywhere (even MSNBC), Darryl Hannah was arrested in front of the White House Tuesday, August 30, 2011 in a peaceful demonstration. Nowhere was there evidence of rude or lewd behavior (as seen in EVERY gay rights parade in California), no violence as reported on (and ignored) in Detroit or Chicago, not even any heckling or shouting by demonstrators.
Look at the photos taken from the A.P. article! What do we see?
We see a few peaceful Americans sitting down on a sidewalk exercising their Constitutional rights to peaceful assemble (Article I, The Constitution of the United States) to wit: " Congress shall make no law...abridging the freedom of speech...or of the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." Then we see officer Gordon leading a handcuffed Darryl Hannah away.
Note: Officer Gordon is a member of the S.W.A.T. Team. A SWAT Team? Does any sane and rational person really believe there was probable cause for calling out the S.W.A.T. Team? This is another example of the draconian practices used to intimidate and subjugate the American populace. A very clear subliminal message is sent here folks. "Don't mess with the government." Just like in Waco, TX, heavy-handed measures and over reaction has become the norm.
But, you say, this is Washington, D.C., the seat of our Government. Didn't the founding fathers establish a special District with it's own laws and regulations?
Yes indeed. But what exactly does it really SAY in our Constitution?
Article 1, Section 8 states that, "The Congress shall have power... to exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten miles square) as may... become the Seat of the Government of the United Staes.." NOWHERE does this, or any other Article, Ammendment, or clause in the entire document, contradict, deny, repeal or in any way diminish the basic tenets of the first Ten Articles we have come to call The Bill of Rights.
Does any news report even mention this egregious and obvious violation of our most basic human rights? Does any one anywhere raise the concern? No. The intent of the news flash spread far and wide is to denigrate the persons, the individuals, involved. As such, focus instead is on such irrevelant nonsence as "Miss Hannah has been arrested as a protester before."
Really? So the intent is to promulgate the idea that PROTEST is what is bad. That is what gets people, even the rich and famous, arrested. So goes the thread.
Does our Government really think We the People are so naive? Is the A.P. culpable in the Government's sleight of hands? ("Nothing to see here, folks. Move along!")
I do not presume to speak for the A.P. But I sure would love to open public discourse and dialog with these questions.
Such as, "What has happened to Free Speech in America?", and "...The Constitution"?
Or has the Constitution of the United States of America become, in the words of President George Bush, "...just a G_d D— _ned piece of paper"??
